Outnumbered: Aaahhh Mexico!

Aaahhh Mexico!

What can I say.  These last 2 weeks have been quite the roller coaster of emotions for me.  First Niklas got really sick.  Of course no one in my house has been sick all winter and the week before our big trip he catches some sort of stomach bug from H-E-_ _.  It was awful.  Then I started praying that me and everyone else would just hurry and catch it so we could be well for our trip.  Oddly enough no one caught ANYTHING until the night before Dave and I left.  Sam started throwing up and Nik got worse.  It was awful.  I seriously was having panic attacks about leaving everyone anyway so all of this did not help.  On the other hand Nik's doctor had given him some medicine and I knew they would all be in the great hands so I just said many prayers, got a blessing, cried most of the night, and left early in the morning.  I felt like I was going to war or to the dentist or possibly to the O.B. instead of to an all inclusive vacation in Mexico!  Crazy, I know.  On the other hand if it weren't for Dave and I the kids wouldn't even be here!  I've always felt that it's important to take time for each other and what better time than on your birthday?  Not to mention we'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary this year.  Anyways, as we were flying away I noticed something wasn't right in my stomach.  That's right folks...I caught the bug just in the nik of time!  To make a long story short I was sick as a dog the first 2 days, and throwing up pretty much the rest of the trip.  The good news is that Dave only got sick for one of the days and was thus able to cart my sorry butt around Mexico once he was well again!  Seriously I was praying so hard that he would get well quick enough that we could still go enjoy the end of our trip.  I'd say my prayers were definitely answered.  Thursday and Friday my body was strong enough to venture out a bit.  We rented a car and went to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen and Xcaret.  We snorkeled through rivers and swam with the dolphins.  Actually we got a full hour with the dolphins doing tricks with them and letting them launch us across the ocean.  It was incredible.  I'll try to post some video here at some piont.  Someday I might also blog about our totally invasive 1 hour "couples massage" we go upon arrival.  All you have to do is say...in a whisper "senior David" and dave gets the heebie geebies!  Anyways, I threw up one last time Friday night and Satuday we came home to find Ethan spiking a fever and Sam with double ear infections.  Needless to say we really hit the ground running when we got home.  Dave had church meetings all day today and a work meeting this afternoon.  I'm sure at some point we'll all get our lives back together, but in the meantime I'll just be drooling over the great pictures I took of the beach!  I can't post them all here, but if you check out my facebook I just uploaded a bunch.  All in all I really have to say that my mom Carla and Dave's mom Pat win the "angels of the year award"!  They tag teamed my kids together 24/7.  They were a fabulous team!  I'm so lucky to have them both in my life.  They were cheerful and willing and wonderful.  Pat even got thrown up on and still claims to love us! They've already chalked up so many brownie points for being there for me after each of my babies.  This puts them in the upper echelons of my heart and soul.  I LOVE YOU BOTH!

I LOVED this long walk out pier on our beach.

This was the first night we actually felt well enough to go together to eat dinner!

Sorry to hear about the puke...but I am totally jealous about the trip. It looks so warm and inviting!
Especially as I sit here in the cold and being quite prego...nothing like imagining myself on the beach looking as cute as you did. Ahhhh sunshine!

I love your pictures! I saw them on facebook and I would have never guessed that you were sick. You look fabulous!!!
That is so great for you guys to get away like that!!! Sorry you were sick and couldn't enjoy the whole trip.
I think I'll start saving money so that my Dave and I can do that in 2 years for our 10 year anniversary.
How great for Pat and Carla to have that time with the boys, even though they were sick. They are wonderful grandmothers!!!!!!!!!
