Food Storage

FINALLY we got our actual 3 month supply of food storage. It was so fun and funny at the same time. I went with all four kids to walmart thinking I would save Dave some hassle (as we had planned to go that evening to get the stuff) and we gathered anything light weight and easy to load. Yes, that included like 17 boxes of mini wheats, TONS of boxes of oatmeal, and all frozen stuff. Eric pushed one cart and I pushed the other. We were quite a site. Ethan said..."mom, we look like crazy people"! Aren't we going to leave some for everyone else?? I was laughing so hard. That night Dave ended up watching the kids and Eric and I went to Aldi's for the rest of the canned goods. I learned for the first time how dang HEAVY 3 carts full of canned goods are. So, I loaded them from the shelves into the carts, from the carts to the back of the van, from the back of the van into the house. Next was me separating 55 pounds of hamburger. Also, quite funny and quite gross too! Oddly enough they just made me the relief society "preparedness specialist". Here is the link to an awesome interactive food storage website. It's www.foodstoragemadeeasy.net. It really is awesome. Anyways, here are some pics...

Holy cow! What in the world is that? I think my family could live off of that food for a year!

That is amazing. You are superwoman carrying all of those caned goods. I totaly feel like I have put on some extra muscle lately as I have been trying to add more to my list when I go to the store for our food storage. I'll have to come over and see it, you'll have to give me some tips on what to load up on.
